Volunteer Opportunities

Start gathering your donations and drop them off at the Hillhurst gym. Please make sure all items are clean, in working order, and ready to display.

We’re accepting donations such as kitchenware, small working appliances, household décor, craft supplies, linens, jewelry, sports equipment, children’s toys, art, tools, gardening items, books, home office supplies, games and puzzles (with all pieces), and seasonal décor.

Please note, we cannot accept clothing, shoes, bike helmets, car seats, old TVs, outdated electronics, plush toys, or large furniture. If you’d like to support the sale by selling these items online, you can donate proceeds to Hillhurst United Church.

  • The sale takes place on:

    • Saturday, September 26 from 8:00am – 3:00 pm

    • Saturday, September 27 from 11:00am to 1:00pm

    September 21 - 9:30am - 2:30pm | 6:00pm - 7:30pm

  • Donations can be dropped off at the Hillhurst Gym during the designated times.

  • Please ensure all donated items are clean, in working order, and ready to display. Items that are broken, damaged, or missing pieces cannot be accepted.

  • Yes! You’re encouraged to sell those items online yourself and donate the proceeds to Hillhurst United Church

  • No, please bring your own bag when you come to shop.

  • Yes! Volunteers are needed before, during, and after the sale.

    • Donation Intake & Sorting (Sept 20–23): Receive donations, sort items into categories, and prepare inventory.

    • Setup & Display (Sept 24–25): Arrange departments, set up tables, and price items for the floor.

    • Sale Days (Sept 26–27): Welcome neighbors, assist shoppers, and negotiate prices at the cash register.

    • Post-Sale Pack-Up & Cleanup (Sept 27): Help wrap up, pack remaining goods for charity, and restore the space.
