Go to Heaven
Sunday, I played with a text about the afterlife.
I reckon it depends on your context how this reflection lands. It was meant with grace and perspective. Some I know are literally planning their MAID; others have never known a loved one to die. For some, life after death is simply a non-issue. It’s a sensitive topic, and I recognize that.
Second Gaze
The “trick” they were trying to stump Jesus on has become a new favourite passage for me. The sum of it all is this: Thank God—God’s rules aren’t mine. Even though I still prefer being in control (don’t we all?) and wishing things ran the way I’d like.
But the kicker, the affirmation is this:
ALL ARE ALIVE TO GOD!
We all have a spot in the next life, as mysterious as that may be. Even though we’re sure others are going to hell… “Nope,” God declares! Jesus said, “All go to heaven.”
Our job, then, is to stop judging and controlling and to begin being heaven here on earth.
“Thy kingdom come on earth as it is in heaven.”
So that’s my two bits.
